Description

Freshwater biodiversity in the Oceania region is not well studied and underreported. The preserved specimens of freshwater fish at The University of the South Pacific (Suva, Fiji) are documented in this dataset and is a work in progress. No coordinates have been included as the sites need to be georeferenced. This is a long term goal.

The records in this dataset were mobilised from a catalouge prepared by Lekima Copeland, one of the few freshwater ichthyologist's from Fiji. Data mobilisation and publication followed the guidelines provided by GBIF. Taxonomic names were verified using the OpenRefine script developed by SIB-Colombia for Taxonomic Validation with WORMS's API, available on GitHub.

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 365 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
